Meet Smudge.

Double-Double. Pop. Zed. Eh.?  . . . and S M U D G E the pig!!! This sweet family and their pig(s) come to us from DeWinton, Alberta Canada, a small hamlet south of Calgary, home of the Calgary Stampede. Four acres of prime grazing real estate, a house full of pups, kitties, mom/dad, a bearded dragon and another (new) pig – sounds like a dream to me! PE🐽NY: How old is Smudge? Smudge is a year old. He just celebrated his first birthday on May 11th. He is currently about 45 pounds and about 15 inches tall. Smudge joined our family at six weeks old and has been a challenging pig right from the beginning, but we wouldn’t trade him for the world. PE🐽NY: Have you always wanted a pet pig? Our family loves all animals and decided to research what having a mini potbelly pig would be like. Smudge is our first pig and it’s been an adventure! We researched before getting him, but it doesn’t matter how much you read – nothing prepares you for …

Meet Ziggy.

We all know the saying, “Good things come in small packages.” When it comes to this itty-bitty bundle of love, I need to modify those words to say, “really, really, realllllly good things!” Ziggy was born last month. He is almost almost 8 weeks old and weighs in at a whopping 1.5 pounds. Ziggy is blind. PE🐽NY: Can you please describe your family? We live in Fallbrook, California. Our human family consists of mom, dad and three children: Ashley (13), Ethan (11) and Lucas (8). Our wild kingdom consists of: 4 goats, 3 ponies, 7 chickens, 1 giant sulcata tortoise, 3 dogs, 4 leopard geckos and 3 beta fish. Ziggy has ONLY played with our smallest dog, Zoey. She is a maltese-yorkie mix.  PE🐽NY: Have you always wanted a pig? Our small farm here in Fallbrook is always growing. My husband and youngest son were wanting a pig for quite some time. I was a little slower to warm to the idea because of how smart they are and I wasn’t sure I was ready to own one. One day I decided. We decided. …

Meet Ellie.

When I think of sweet things, I think of babies, huge rainbow lollipops, sprinkles, smiles and one of the cutest pigs I know, Eleanor VonPinkSnout. This 20 pound bundle of sugar is six months old and comes to us from Gilbert, Arizona. Ellie lives with her mommy, daddy, brother (7 years), sister (2 years) and Pepper, a Coopers Hawk, that her daddy recently acquired for his nature sport, Falconry. PE🐽NY: Have you always wanted a pig? I wanted a piggy for a year or so before getting Ellie. At that time, my husband and I both worked full time, which was tough enough with two kiddos, so it was just unrealistic. Neither of us have ever owned a pig before, but I had read a lot about them and was aware of the commitment. PE🐽NY: How did you finally decide on getting Ellie? We had two dogs and found out that our daughter was severely allergic to them (cats too). We tried everything to treat her allergies, but we ended up having to re-home our …

Meet Harper.

This blue-eyed, 50-pound, 10-month old baby girl comes to us from New York and is something special.  Her mama, Ariel, is an angel and loves to rescue exotic animals.  Her piglet, sweet Harper is just like all of our amazing and extraordinary pigs, except for one thing – Harper cannot hear. PE🐽NY: Tell us a little about your household. Who does Harper live with?  Harper lives with my boyfriend and I – and . . . . I have a 46-year old Blue & Gold Macaw that was surrendered over to my care two and a half years ago because she wasn’t cared for properly and had plucked out most of her feathers (still naked to this day).  She is jealous of Harper, so she is not the nicest to her, but has never hurt her.  I have an albino hedgehog, age unknown, also wasn’t being cared for properly and I have had her for one year now.  She is Harper’s “ouch-y” sister, and Harper knows it.  She will no longer go touch her, LOL.  She flinches every time …

Meet Pumpernickel.

Sweet itty-bitty Pumpernickel comes to us from Orange County, New York.  At five-months old and weighing in at a whopping six pounds, this little guy will make you smile.  Pump lives with his lovely mama, Alex, and her family (mom, dad and brother). Here is their story as they learn the piggy way. PE🐽NY: What inspired you to get a pig?  Honestly, I don’t even know how I arrived at the idea of wanting a pet pig!  I think it was after I watched the movie Uptown Girls. That movie gave me high expectations of having a pig (lol), and for sure planted the seed.  I was ready for a new pet, and so, on July 27th, 2015, Pump joined our family.   PE🐽NY: Where did you get Pumpernickel?  He came from a breeder called NY Teacup Piggies. We waited about a month for Pump. PE🐽NY: Do you have any other pets? Yes, I have a dog, Penny. She has been a part of our family for years. Penny and Pump don’t really get along that well, …

Meet Lola.

If pigs could be supermodels, Lola would be at the top of her game.  Lola, aka Lola the Mini Pig, is an almost 8-month old, signature bow-clad, miniature piglet.  She weighs in around 7 pounds, YES, only seven, and lives in sunny Tucson, Arizona. Lola joined her new family (her mama Lizette, and Coco, a Bichon Frise) in April 2015, when she was just a little over a month old. PE🐽NY: What was the inspiration in getting Lola? Did you always want a pig? Pigs are my favorite animal and I have always wanted one, I had just never really looked into getting one.  I was living in Madrid at the time (working on my master’s degree) and started to get a little homesick.  As a result from that, I did my research and after I found the perfect breeder, I paid a deposit without even thinking twice.  Best decision ever. PE🐽NY: How did you find her breeder? Lola came from AZ Micro Mini Pigs in Queen Creek, Arizona.  I first found the breeders website, among many others, but after finding her …
